Take a flashlight and get in the trunk and close the trunk lid. Have someone pour water around the suspected areas and look for water seepage from inside.
To answer your thread title, the 528 is by far the most reliable. However there is no 528 in 2004 or 2005 so your choices are 525 and 530. I would skip the 2004. First year models are always the worst. If you take a 2005, you may want to go with the 530. Reliabilty between the two are about the same but more ponies in the 530 make it the better
